During the summer of 2018, my little sister, Karly, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Karly's battle was a challenging and overwhelming experience, but it truly opened our eyes to the blessings of a strong community. Thankfully, Karly's treatments ended and she is now thriving at Appalachian State University. However, we know that there are still so many families battling childhood cancer. Our experience led to the creation of the Pigskin for Hodgkins, a charity flag football game that features former high school, college, and professional athletes playing alongside other familiar faces to the area. We are excited to be able to give back to organizations such as Emily’s Kids, Art for Life, and Make-A-Wish because we know how valuable each of them is to families going through treatments. We hope that our commitment to not only finding a cure, but also providing assistance to families inspires our friends, family, and community to continue to do the same.
